en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 19, German food logistics service provider Nagel-Group officially broke ground on a new multi-temperature logistics center in Groß Munzel near Hanover. The project is scheduled for completion and commissioning in early 2028, and will primarily serve the storage and distribution of temperature-controlled food products.

The logistics center covers an area of approximately 40,300 square meters, with planned warehousing and transshipment space of around 19,500 square meters, providing approximately 44,000 pallet positions for the storage and turnover of frozen and temperature-controlled food products. Nagel-Group will use the facility as a long-term tenant to expand its service capabilities in multi-temperature logistics and the frozen food sector. The project developer is BGAR BAU GmbH.

The new facility will be equipped with a photovoltaic system to support on-site energy supply, and will feature charging stations for electric trucks and electric passenger vehicles. The office building and ancillary areas cover approximately 700 square meters. Multi-temperature logistics encompasses three temperature zones—frozen, chilled, and ambient—which place high demands on end-to-end temperature stability, process reliability, and energy-efficient operations, and the new facility will provide the corresponding infrastructure to meet these requirements.

Nagel-Group is headquartered in Lower Saxony, Germany, currently employs around 12,000 people, generates annual revenue of approximately €4.9 billion, and operates around 160 logistics sites across Germany and several European countries. This project is one of Nagel-Group's recent initiatives to continuously expand its cold chain warehousing network. Nagel has previously announced the advancement of logistics facility construction in multiple regions to address the growing demand for temperature-controlled logistics in the food supply chain.

André Pleines, Managing Director of Nagel Real Estate, stated that frozen logistics places special demands on end-to-end temperature stability, process reliability, and energy-efficient operations, and the new facility will provide the corresponding infrastructure to meet these requirements.
