Wedoany.com Report-Apr. 12, GE Vernova has entered into an agreement with Forestalia to supply eight turbines for a 49MW wind farm in Spain. Signed in the first quarter of 2025, this deal falls under a broader 693MW framework agreement established in December 2023 between the two companies. The collaboration aims to advance renewable energy projects in the Aragon region. For this specific wind farm, GE Vernova will provide eight 6.1MW-158m turbines, contributing to Spain’s target of achieving 62GW of wind capacity by 2030. This goal supports the country’s plan to produce over 80% of its electricity from renewable sources by the decade’s end.

GE Vernova already plays a substantial role in Spain’s renewable energy landscape, with 5.9GW of the nation’s wind capacity linked to its technology, including 1.5GW in Aragon. The company also maintains a strong manufacturing presence, with facilities in Ponferrada and Castellon. These sites support the production and deployment of its turbines, which are designed to meet the region’s wind conditions effectively. Globally, GE Vernova’s wind segment oversees an installed base of around 57,000 turbines, totaling more than 120GW of capacity.

Gilan Sabatier, GE Vernova’s chief commercial officer for onshore wind in international markets, highlighted the significance of the partnership: “We are pleased to continue executing on our framework agreement with Forestalia as they work to help meet Spain’s wind energy goals.” He added: “Our workhorse turbines are well suited to wind conditions in Spain and across Europe, as customers continue to look to wind power to meet energy demand, bolster energy security, and support renewable energy goals.” The turbines’ adaptability makes them a reliable choice for expanding clean energy infrastructure.

Forestalia, a key player in Spain’s renewable sector, focuses on developing and constructing projects in wind energy, photovoltaics, biomass electricity generation, and pellet production. The company’s chief executive, Carlos Reyero, stated: “Forestalia has a growing portfolio in operation and construction, which will exceed an installed capacity of 1.2GW for direct management in the coming years.” Beyond this, Forestalia has collaborated with firms like Repsol, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), Lightsource BP, and Bruc Management, delivering projects exceeding 4GW, most of which are already operational.

This latest agreement strengthens the ongoing partnership between GE Vernova and Forestalia, aligning with Spain’s renewable energy ambitions. The 49MW wind farm in Aragon marks another step toward sustainable energy production, leveraging local manufacturing and expertise. As both companies continue their efforts, the project underscores a shared commitment to meeting energy needs through renewable sources, contributing to both regional and national objectives.
