en.Wedoany.com Reported - Wedoany.com, June 30, 2026 – Siemens Energy announced on June 30, 2026, that it will provide key power generation technology and long-term services for the Misfah and Duqm Independent Power Producer (IPP) projects in Oman. The two combined-cycle power plants are planned to have a combined installed capacity of nearly 2.6 gigawatts. Once operational, they are expected to increase Oman's national power capacity by nearly 20%, ensuring electricity supply for over 2 million people. Siemens Energy's scope of supply includes six F-class gas turbines, six generators, and a 20-year long-term service agreement.

The Misfah power plant is located in the Muscat Governorate, one of the regions with the highest electricity demand in Oman. The Duqm power plant is situated in the Duqm Special Economic Zone, an industrial and logistics hub along the Arabian Sea coast. The projects are developed by a consortium comprising UAE-based water and electricity company, Nebras Power, Bahwan Infrastructure Services, and Korea Western Power Company. Doosan Enerbility and SEPCO-3 form the consortium responsible for engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC), while Nama Power and Water Procurement Company serves as the power off-taker.

Oman's Minister of Energy and Minerals, Salim Al Aufi, stated during a visit to Siemens Energy's gas turbine factory in Berlin: "The Misfah and Duqm projects reflect Oman's commitment to building a resilient and future-oriented energy system. By collaborating with technology partners like Siemens Energy and deploying advanced gas turbines with hydrogen co-firing capabilities, we are enhancing the reliability of electricity supply while supporting the Sultanate's long-term strategy for diversifying its energy mix."

Karim Amin, Member of the Executive Board of Siemens Energy, stated that as Oman continues to expand its industrial base and power infrastructure, flexible and reliable electricity supply plays a crucial role in supporting grid stability and facilitating the integration of renewable energy. The core equipment for the two power plants will be manufactured at Siemens Energy's facilities in Berlin and Mülheim, Germany.
