en.Wedoany.com Reported - According to Duanet, on August 13, Yongfu Co., Ltd. and China Electric Power Engineering Co., Ltd. signed a design service contract in China for the Tebessa 1406.017MW gas power plant project in Algeria. Yongfu will undertake the project design and management services, marking its first project in Algeria and its largest overseas gas power plant project by single-unit capacity to date.

The Tebessa gas power plant is planned to be built with two "two-on-one" combined-cycle gas-steam turbine units, each configured with 2 GE 9F.04 gas turbine generator sets, 2 heat recovery steam generators, 1 steam turbine generator set, and 1 air-cooled condenser. The total installed capacity of the two units is 1406.017MW. The combined-cycle system will utilize high-temperature flue gas discharged from the gas turbines to generate steam, driving the steam turbines for additional power generation.

Located in eastern Algeria, the project covers an area of approximately 40 hectares and is jointly promoted by the power production company under Algeria's National Electricity and Gas Group and China Electric Power Engineering Co., Ltd. The project has a planned construction period of 48 months and an investment scale of approximately 184.09 billion Algerian dinars. Upon completion, it will become the second-largest power station in Algeria by installed capacity.

Algeria's Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energy launched the project construction on April 27. The design service contract signed by Yongfu came after the project commencement date, with its work focus including engineering design of large-scale gas turbine power plants, multi-party design coordination, adaptation to local technical standards, and design schedule management.

Once operational, the project will be connected to Algeria's national grid to enhance power supply capacity in the eastern region and meet local industrial production and residential electricity demand. Algeria also plans to further expand power interconnection with neighboring countries. As Tebessa is close to the Tunisian border, the project has been incorporated into the country's power infrastructure development plan.
