en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 11, Babcock & Wilcox (B&W) signed an agreement with Siemens Energy to initiate the supply of 20 steam turbine generator units. Each unit has a rated capacity of 50 megawatts, totaling 1 gigawatt of power generation capacity, which will be used for B&W's FastPower program data center power projects.

Siemens Energy will supply the steam turbines and associated generator technology, while B&W is responsible for integrating boilers, steam generation equipment, engineering design, and project construction capabilities. The FastPower program primarily targets AI data centers and other high-load power consumption projects, advancing supporting power infrastructure through a standardized portfolio of power generation equipment.
This order is an additional agreement beyond the previous steam turbine collaboration between B&W and Siemens Energy. In January 2026, B&W selected Siemens Energy to provide steam turbine generator units for the Applied Digital AI data center project, with the initial collaboration involving SST-500 and SST-800 steam turbines as well as SGen-100A-2P generators, paired with gas-fired boilers, originally planned to achieve power supply by the end of 2028.
In March of this year, B&W received a full notice to proceed from independent power producer Base Electron to execute a $2.4 billion design-build agreement to construct 1.2 gigawatts of power generation facilities for the Applied Digital AI data center campus. The project consists of four 300-megawatt natural gas boiler and steam turbine generator systems, and Siemens Energy has commenced the design and supply of the related steam turbine generator units.
Base Electron was established by the Applied Digital team to develop and hold data center supporting power generation assets, supplying power to the Applied Digital campus through independent power supply agreements. Applied Digital is also evaluating follow-up options to add 1.2 gigawatts of additional power generation capacity.
