en.Wedoany.com Reported - At 18:18 on August 15, Unit 3 of the 4×660MW expansion project of Guoneng Ningxia Tengger Zhongwei Power Plant successfully completed the 168-hour full-load trial operation, with all performance indicators meeting design requirements, and was officially put into commercial operation. After being put into operation, the unit will provide strong power support for the safe and stable operation of the "Ningxia-Hunan DC" ultra-high-voltage transmission channel and the construction of the new power system. On the same day, Unit 6 efficiently completed the boiler purging task, marking another step forward for the project's final unit toward the full-capacity commissioning goal of the nation's first batch, first plant, and first unit of "desert, Gobi, and barren land" supporting peak-shaving power sources.

During the trial operation of Unit 3, Zhongwei Thermal Power Company established a whole-process intrinsic safety management and control system, strengthened on-site major risk identification and dynamic control, implemented a closed-loop management model of "advance planning – precise pre-control – dynamic correction," and deepened the integrated management of infrastructure and production. All participating construction units worked in coordination, opening up a rapid problem-handling channel, implementing ledger management and closed-loop resolution for defects during the trial operation, and making every effort to ensure the orderly implementation of all milestones for Unit 3's complete start-up and 168-hour trial operation.

Unit 3 is the first in Ningxia to apply the wide-load intelligent cruise control technology for the pulverizing system, replacing traditional manual step-by-step operations with standardized fully automatic start-stop logic. Through one-click commands, the entire process of mill warming, air distribution, purging, loading, coal feeding, and shutdown isolation is automatically completed, replacing the original 28 manual operations and achieving intelligent management and control without human intervention across the entire process, covering all operating conditions from deep peak-shaving to full load. The system constructs a multi-parameter coupling model of air volume, temperature, output, and other factors, follows AGC commands in real time to optimize the air-coal ratio, smoothly controls main steam pressure and temperature, ensures stable combustion at low load and improves efficiency at high load, and effectively resolves combustion fluctuations caused by frequent load changes. Meanwhile, it leverages big-data intelligent optimization to precisely match operating conditions, reducing auxiliary power consumption rate and specific pulverizing energy consumption. This technology is deeply integrated with various intelligent management and control platforms, and combined with digital twin visual monitoring, it comprehensively enhances the unit's intelligent operation level, providing a replicable high-quality solution for wind-solar-thermal-storage coordinated peak-shaving in desert, Gobi, and barren land areas.

The boiler purging of Unit 6 adopted the constant-pressure purging with pressure-reduction target plate striking process, implemented in multiple rounds. Before the operation, Zhongwei Thermal Power Company led the establishment of a special working group, completed the acceptance of temporary pipelines, silencers, and target plate devices, carried out scheme review and safety technical disclosure for all personnel, and clarified the standards for key procedures such as temperature and pressure rise control, steam discharge warning, target plate verification, and emergency response. During the purging period, the temperature and pressure rise rates were strictly controlled, purging and pressure-release parameters were optimized, and welding slag, oxide scale, and debris in the pipelines were thoroughly removed. Technical personnel monitored core parameters in real time and conducted uninterrupted on-site inspections. After joint acceptance by all participating parties, the target plate striking for both the primary and secondary steam systems of the unit passed all inspections, with indicators conforming to national and industry standards. Currently, the unit's subsystem commissioning and interlock protection tests are progressing in an orderly manner, with equipment verification and hidden hazard rectification carried out simultaneously.

With the successive completion and commissioning of the third unit, the project will continue to optimize the regional energy layout, facilitate the consumption and stable outward transmission of new energy from desert, Gobi, and barren land areas, and inject strong power momentum into national energy security, the optimized allocation of energy resources between the eastern and western regions, and the high-quality economic and social development of local areas.
