en.Wedoany.com Reported - PD Ports has strengthened its marine operations at Teesport and the Port of Hartlepool with the introduction of a multi-purpose rapid response vessel named New Vision. The vessel is capable of supporting a wide range of port operations and environmental activities.

PD Ports launches new rapid response vessel.

New Vision was initially acquired as an open-deck boat without a wheelhouse, and was subsequently modified in collaboration with a naval architect to meet the specific requirements of the marine and engineering teams.

The vessel measures 8 meters in length, weighs 3.4 tonnes, and can reach a top speed of 36 knots, enabling rapid response to environmental incidents and operational demands on the water. The vessel holds Category 4 certification, allowing it to operate up to 20 miles offshore during daylight hours—a coverage advantage that is notable for a vessel of its size.

Its enclosed wheelhouse enables operations to continue in adverse weather conditions, and it is equipped with a full suite of navigation equipment, including radar and radio systems. Power comes from a 300-horsepower OXE diesel outboard engine, which utilizes BMW diesel technology adapted for marine use, setting it apart from most outboard-powered vessels that run on petrol.

The hull is constructed from high-density polyethylene, offering durability and impact resistance to withstand the collisions commonly encountered in a port environment. New Vision will be deployed for a variety of marine tasks, including the deployment of pollution control equipment such as boom, skimmers, and oil spill response gear, as well as broader safety boat operations.

Chris Stocks, Marine Director at PD Ports, stated that maintaining safe and efficient operations is the statutory harbour authority's primary responsibility, and emphasized that the vessel provides a highly effective response capability for environmental incidents when time is of the essence.
