en.Wedoany.com Reported - UK internet service provider Quickline has announced that its gigabit-speed full-fiber (FTTP) broadband network has covered nearly 11,000 premises in North Yorkshire two months ahead of schedule. This progress is part of a public subsidy contract worth over £70 million signed by the company under the UK government's "Project Gigabit" initiative.

The contract for North Yorkshire (Lot 31, valued at £73.5 million) was signed in mid-2024, originally requiring the operator to extend its existing fiber network to an additional 36,300 hard-to-reach rural premises. According to data from Building Digital UK (BDUK) as of June 2026, Quickline's covered premises under this contract currently stand at 34,490, a slight adjustment from the initial award.
Quickline's funding sources include approximately £500 million from Northleaf Capital Partners, around £300 million in public subsidies from four Project Gigabit contracts, roughly £225 million in term loans and debt guarantees from the National Wealth Fund, and a £25 million term loan from NatWest.
Currently, Quickline has covered nearly 55,000 subsidized Project Gigabit premises through its four contracts, while also undertaking significant additional commercial deployments in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. The operator's latest report does not summarize its current construction locations. Quickline's local project manager, Imran Amir, stated that reaching 10,000 subsidized premises ahead of schedule in North Yorkshire reflects the outstanding work of the team and construction partners, noting that fast and reliable broadband has become a key infrastructure for homes, businesses, and communities.
