en.Wedoany.com Reported - Greek power grid operator Independent Power Transmission Operator (IPTO) announced that the construction of the South Cyclades Islands power interconnection project has been completed, connecting Santorini, Folegandros, Milos, and Serifos to the mainland power system via Attica. This is the fourth and final phase of the project to reshape the energy infrastructure of the Cyclades Islands.

The total budget for the project is 385.7 million euros, including 294 kilometers of high-voltage submarine and underground cables, as well as four fully digital gas-insulated substations. IPTO reports that starting from Santorini, the line will be gradually integrated into the national power transmission system. The interconnection will enhance the energy security of the islands, reduce the environmental footprint, and lower consumer costs by decreasing public service obligation fees.
