en.Wedoany.com Reported - Nepal Telecom (NTC) is expanding 4G mobile network coverage in the Tikauli Jungle area of Bharatpur, Chitwan, to enhance service capacity in the region. This expansion is part of the company's efforts to improve telecommunications services along highways, in jungles, and underserved settlements.
NTC is using sector expansion technology from existing base stations to transmit mobile signals toward highways, improving areas that previously had poor or no cellular coverage. The company employs specialized antennas strategically placed at various locations to extend coverage. This initiative provides connectivity to local residents, tourists, and travelers, focusing on highway sections lacking 2G or 4G signals.
The coverage range of mobile towers varies from 1 km to 10 km depending on technology, frequency, and terrain, with an average capacity of about 5 km. NTC stated that while specific kilometer data for uncovered highway areas is unavailable, it will continue to expand services in these blind spots.
As the national telecommunications company, Nepal Telecom prioritizes deploying reliable communication in previously unserved areas. Currently, NTC's 4G coverage has reached 99% of local administrative levels, with plans to achieve full coverage by 2083. Additionally, the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) and NTC may collaborate to expand mobile networks across Nepal using the Rural Telecommunications Development Fund (RTDF), particularly targeting uncovered rural areas.
