Members who have suspended their subscriptions can use the facilities for free from July 13 to 31, with payments resuming on August 1.

Operated by Active Hartlepool, a service under Hartlepool Borough Council, the renovation aims to enhance health and wellbeing facilities for residents, with finishing touches currently underway. The upgrade has created a brighter, more modern, and higher-performance environment in the fitness suite and studio.

Improvements to the studio include the installation of an immersive sound and lighting system, projectors and screens for virtual and on-demand cycling classes, brand-new Technogym bikes, and expanded space achieved by removing two internal walls. Additionally, a suspended ceiling and new flooring have been installed, a full redecoration has been carried out, and fire safety doors and air conditioning systems have been upgraded to ensure a comfortable environment during classes.

The fitness suite has also been reconfigured, introducing the latest Technogym equipment and adding step machines based on member feedback. Following the renovation, users will benefit from an enlarged training area with optimized layout, professional gym flooring, improved lighting and sound systems, new decorations, and an upgraded air conditioning system. Beyond the fitness areas, the toilets have been fully refurbished with new cubicles, sinks, and fittings, while the changing room showers have undergone a modern upgrade.

The investment in Brierton Sports Centre is part of a broader plan by Hartlepool to enhance leisure facilities. This follows the upgrade of Headland Sports Centre last summer, and the opening of the town's multi-million-pound new Highlight Active Wellbeing Hub just weeks ago.
