Wedoany.com Report-Apr. 18, On April 16, 2025, Algeria’s state-owned company, OAIC, acquired between 570,000 and 600,000 tons of soft wheat from various origins through a tender for June delivery.  The wheat was purchased at a price of $267.5 per ton, inclusive of cost and freight.

Traders indicated that the majority of the wheat is expected to be sourced from Black Sea region countries, including Ukraine, Romania, and Bulgaria. This purchase supports Algeria’s efforts to secure a stable supply of soft wheat for domestic consumption.

The tender reflects ongoing demand for wheat in Algeria, with OAIC actively engaging in international markets to meet the country’s needs. The selection of suppliers from multiple origins ensures flexibility in sourcing high-quality grain.

European traders noted: “The Black Sea region remains a key supplier for this tender, with Ukraine, Romania, and Bulgaria playing significant roles in fulfilling the order.” This highlights the region’s importance in global wheat trade and its capacity to meet large-scale demands.
