en.Wedoany.com Reported - Norwegian farmed cod company Norcod has signed a five-year exclusive agreement with fry supplier Havland to secure all cod fry produced by Havland for Norcod's farming operations in Norway.
The agreement aims to increase production capacity to 7.5 million fry per year to support Norcod's long-term growth and production plans.
The two companies have been collaborating since 2018 and jointly established a hatchery in Florø in 2021. According to both parties, this partnership provides sufficient fry and juvenile fish capacity to support continued expansion while enhancing operational flexibility before the sea-based grow-out phase.
Norcod stated that it is on track to develop new farms and construct existing facilities, with plans to increase offshore biomass throughout 2026. This expansion is intended to support the planned harvest of 13,000 to 15,000 tonnes of snow cod in 2027, followed by an increase in production to 25,000 tonnes by 2029.
Oddgeir Igland, CEO of Havland, said the agreement reflects the strong partnership between the two companies and their shared belief in the future potential of farmed cod.
