The Funding Authority for Studies and Projects (Financiadora de Estudos e Projetos, Finep) will allocate R$220 million for family farming innovation

The initiative is part of the CooperaMais Brasil Tecnologia program, which falls under the Agricultural Plan (Plano Safra) aimed at family farmers. Applicants must partner with family farming or aquaculture cooperatives to receive funding.

These calls are part of a public policy led by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), implemented in coordination with the Ministry of Agrarian Development (MDA), the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture (MPA), and the Ministry of Finance. Finep President Luiz Antônio Elias stated that through these calls, the Agricultural Plan establishes innovation as a permanent and fundamental tool for worker development. The program aims to promote innovation to increase productivity, add value to production, and ensure social productive inclusion and food security in the country.

The calls are divided into two specific categories: the first, worth R$100 million, targets Scientific, Technological and Innovation Institutions (ICTs) for developing integrated solutions, technology transfer, capacity building, and rural extension; the second, worth R$120 million, targets companies and involves the industrial development of small machinery and specific inputs, such as tractors, agricultural implements, and machines for planting and harvesting key family farming crops. The complete call documents and participation criteria will be published on the Finep portal.

The 2026/2027 Family Farming Plan will invest a total of R$97.3 billion in credit programs, agricultural insurance, public procurement, technical assistance, and rural extension. Of this amount, R$85.2 billion will be allocated to the National Program for Strengthening Family Farming (Pronaf), representing an increase of nearly 9% in credit limits compared to the previous agricultural season.
