en.Wedoany.com Reported - Guangdong Haid Group Co. Ltd. of China, through its subsidiary Sheng Long Aqua Technology, held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new aquafeed plant in Kamunting, Malaysia, with a total project investment of RM140 million (approximately USD 34 million).

The Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) announced on August 10 that the plant will be equipped with two shrimp feed production lines and two fish feed production lines, with a designed annual capacity of 150,000 metric tons, and is expected to commence operations in 2028. Upon completion, the plant will serve as Sheng Long's primary manufacturing and technical service center in Malaysia.

Sheng Long's General Manager, Chuang Jie Cheng, stated that the core of this investment is to provide farmers with high-quality aquafeed, a more reliable supply chain, and comprehensive technical support to enhance their productivity and profitability. He also mentioned that the company hopes to contribute to the long-term sustainable development of Malaysia's aquaculture industry as it continues to grow.

Haid Group's international aquaculture business is operated by Sheng Long Bio-tech International Co., Ltd. (i.e., Sheng Long Group), which has already entered markets including Vietnam, India, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines. Previously, Sheng Long Group had established nine feed plants, four shrimp hatcheries, one tilapia hatchery, and one R&D center in Vietnam and India. The new Kamunting plant will become the group's 10th facility in Southeast and South Asia.

Sheng Long stated that local Malaysian partners will continue to be incorporated into its future operational plans; the company expects to consolidate its competitiveness through this initiative and create synergies with the sustainable development of the local economy and aquaculture industry.

MIDA believes that the launch of the Kamunting project not only confirms the strong demand for aquafeed in Malaysia and the regional market but will also generate 100 new job opportunities upon commencement of operations, thereby strengthening the resilience of the local manufacturing sector and supply chain.

MIDA CEO Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid remarked that Sheng Long's investment holds positive significance for Malaysia's agri-food ecosystem: local manufacturing capabilities will be enhanced, dependence on imported feed will be reduced, and national food security and supply chain resilience will be directly strengthened. Beyond its economic role, the project will also bring quality employment, drive technology and knowledge transfer, and foster the accumulation of modern manufacturing expertise locally.
