en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 6, 2026, at the first day of the international industrial exhibition "INNOPROM" held at the Yekaterinburg International Exhibition Center in Russia, Kamensk-Uralsky Metallurgical Works JSC (KUMZ) and CYBERSTEEL Company officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement at the Sverdlovsk Region booth. The two parties will jointly launch the first high-tech seamless aluminum alloy tube production project in the Ural Federal District. Alexey Shmykov, First Deputy Governor of Sverdlovsk Region and Minister of Industry and Science, attended the signing ceremony.
KUMZ is one of Russia's largest producers of aluminum and magnesium alloy metal products, with its products certified by Boeing and meeting aerospace material standards. CYBERSTEEL is a Russian high-tech seamless steel tube manufacturer with extensive experience in the production of seamless stainless steel tubes, having previously invested 12 billion rubles in production line upgrades. Under the cooperation agreement, KUMZ will be responsible for supplying hot-deformed aluminum alloy tube billets, while CYBERSTEEL will serve as the technical partner leveraging its seamless tube production technology. The first phase of the project plans an annual output of 200 tons of tubes, with capacity scalable to 1,000 tons per year if market demand grows.
The collaboration will focus on producing 2XXX, 5XXX, 6XXX, and 7XXX series aluminum alloy tubes, which are widely used in high-tech fields such as aviation, aerospace, shipbuilding, automotive, and nuclear engineering machinery. Vasily Kruzhilov, General Director of KUMZ, stated that the partnership will produce domestic tubes comparable to the world's best products, completely eliminating Russia's dependence on imports in strategic niche sectors. Stanislav Veliky, General Director of CYBERSTEEL, revealed that the company produced its first aluminum alloy tube on new production facilities just a few weeks ago.
Alexey Shmykov, First Deputy Governor of Sverdlovsk Region, noted that the collaboration between the two leading Ural enterprises will create a complete production chain in the region, from hot-deformed tube billet production to final high-tech products. This project will effectively fill supply gaps for key components in the aviation, aerospace, and nuclear industries, and establish Sverdlovsk Region as one of Russia's key capability centers for aluminum alloy tube production.
This cooperation will help enhance Russia's technological self-sufficiency in the high-end aluminum alloy tube sector, providing stable domestic material supply guarantees for critical industrial sectors such as aviation, aerospace, and nuclear engineering.
