Zimbabwe President Mnangagwa Orders Acceleration of Systematic Mineral Exploration

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 29, Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa stated in his State of the Nation Address that the government will strengthen systematic mineral exploration and promote the formation of mining projects capable of attracting investment. The Minerals Marketing Corporation and the Zimbabwe Geological Survey will receive further resource support to undertake basic geological surveys, mineral resource assessments, and project development preparation work.

This deployment also covers project financing preparation. The government requires relevant institutions not only to identify mineral resources but also to further transform some resources into bankable projects supported by technical and economic data, providing a project pipeline for subsequent investor entry, mine development, and processing plant construction.

Zimbabwe continues to advance mineral beneficiation during the same period. Mnangagwa stated in his State of the Nation Address that the country has recently achieved local production of lithium sulfate, with more lithium sulfate production facilities under construction. Expansion projects are also underway in the gold and platinum group metals sectors, and the government has listed the formalization, financing, and equipment provision of small-scale gold and other mineral mining as priorities for follow-up work.

In September this year, Zimbabwe's Ministry of Mines and Mining Development further promoted mining projects to international investors at the Africa Down Under conference in Australia, highlighting mining rights security, optimized approval procedures, fiscal incentives, and more flexible power supply arrangements, and seeking capital, technology, and professional expertise to participate in new mineral exploration and large-scale project development.
