en.Wedoany.com Reported - The University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) has formally established an academia-industry partnership with OneStop Logistics Solutions Inc. (OLSI), a subsidiary of Magsaysay Shipping and Logistics, deploying Industrial Engineering (IE) students to tackle real-world supply chain problems to align its research model more closely with industry practices.

The two parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding on June 30, 2026. As the first step in the collaboration, UA&P students will work with OLSI on projects derived from actual operational challenges rather than simulated case studies. OLSI is a full-service logistics integrator offering customized end-to-end freight solutions. UA&P announced that the initial research, led by fourth-year IE students Abby Capricho and Luise Paner, will focus on scoping how the two institutions can create maximum value together. Areas under consideration include optimizing less-than-container load (LCL) consolidation strategies, assessing the impact of peak-season port congestion on delivery times and service reliability, and improving warehouse operations to enhance space utilization and throughput efficiency.

Dr. Varsolo Sunio, Director of the IE program at UA&P, stated that the long-term goal is to establish a continuous pipeline of student cohorts. He hopes each batch of IE students will build upon the work of the previous group, deepening their understanding of the logistics industry and making greater contributions. He emphasized that this academia-industry collaboration exposes students to the complexities of real logistics operations, where data is messy, problems are urgent, and solutions have tangible consequences. Working alongside external teams not only hones technical skills but also enhances professional judgment. The initial scoping study will inform a second, more detailed agreement, which will specify the concrete objectives, timelines, and data-sharing terms required for the full implementation of the collaborative project.
