Participants in the discussions included Kenya's Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, Hon. William Kabogo Gitau, and Dr. Cosmas Zavazava, Director of the ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT). During the talks, both sides reviewed progress in the long-standing partnership between Kenya and the ITU and identified priority areas to support the country's digital future, including strengthening AI governance frameworks, promoting responsible data use, expanding affordable connectivity, and building digital capacity to enable more citizens to participate in the digital economy.

The exchange highlighted Kenya's progress in enhancing connectivity and its forward-looking regulatory approach. The two sides also discussed plans to expand digital centers in every constituency in Kenya, aiming to bring digital skills, services, and opportunities closer to communities. Kabogo emphasized the importance of developing high-quality and locally relevant data ecosystems, noting that AI solutions must reflect African realities and contexts to deliver equitable and meaningful outcomes.
