AIS data from VesselsValue shows that the 174,000-cubic-meter "Pacific Success," built in 2024, docked at the facility on Tuesday morning and is currently in ballast. Kpler reported on Monday that the "Pacific Success," operated by TotalEnergies, was ballasting in the Northeast Pacific and was expected to arrive near the ECA LNG terminal later Monday. Kpler stated: "Ahead of the expected loading, feed gas supply to the terminal increased significantly in June, indicating that commissioning is in its final stages."

Last month, Sempra Infrastructure announced that the ECA LNG Phase 1 liquefaction project in Ensenada had begun producing LNG as part of commissioning for commercial operations. The company expects the project to be substantially complete this summer, with sales under long-term sale and purchase agreements commencing shortly thereafter, at which point the facility will enter commercial operation. Sempra Infrastructure stated that the facility, located on Mexico's Pacific coast, can supply U.S. natural gas to markets in Asia and other Pacific Basin regions via the shortest shipping route, reducing transit time and transportation costs, thereby offering customers competitively priced U.S. natural gas. A second phase is also under development at the same site.

Sempra Infrastructure and TotalEnergies have added liquefaction capacity to the existing ECA LNG regasification terminal. The project reached a final investment decision (FID) in 2020, with Phase 1 comprising a single-train liquefaction facility with a nameplate capacity of 3.25 million tonnes per annum (mtpa). On the offtake side, TotalEnergies and Mitsui & Co will each purchase a combined 2.5 mtpa of LNG from the facility under 20-year agreements.
