en.Wedoany.com Reported - NYK has named its new Tokyo Bay cruise ship "Amane (Sea Sound)," a 480-gross-ton vessel scheduled to enter service around May 2027, replacing the current dining ship Lady Crystal.

Amane will operate Tokyo Bay cruises from Tennozu, taking over the business currently run by Lady Crystal under The Cruise Club Tokyo, an NYK Group company. NYK has launched a dedicated website to release the latest updates on the vessel.

The name Amane combines the Chinese characters "海" (sea) and "音" (sound). NYK stated that the name aims to evoke the experience of sailing accompanied by the sound of waves and to convey the goal of the ship and its vision resonating widely with people.

Amane will continue NYK's passenger ship culture, featuring private cabins with dedicated butler service for guests staying in them, and onboard hospitality for all passengers. The dining concept continues the tradition of French cuisine once offered on NYK passenger ships, with set menus prepared by Lady Crystal's executive chef Kenji Hayama using selected Japanese ingredients.

The vessel has an overall length of approximately 48.0 meters, a beam of about 9.5 meters, and a draft of about 2.1 meters. Maehata Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. will construct the ship in Sasebo, Nagasaki Prefecture.

NYK is the Japanese shipping group behind the Amane project and the inheritor of the passenger ship culture associated with this new vessel. The Cruise Club Tokyo, as an NYK Group company, is currently the operator of Lady Crystal. Maehata Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. is the shipyard in Sasebo responsible for building the vessel.
