The center will be dedicated to standard-setting and certification tasks in areas such as manufacturing data, infrastructure, and solutions.
Currently, companies within industrial complexes use different equipment and solutions, leading to difficulties in linking manufacturing data and limiting AI application. The newly established M.AX Standards & Certification Center aims to address this bottleneck, laying the technical foundation for the comprehensive adoption of manufacturing AI in industrial complexes. The center will undertake the standardization and certification system construction for hardware such as materials, components, and equipment, as well as software like AI solutions, gradually developing core standards including manufacturing data standard design, AI infrastructure linkage standards, and solution applicability verification.
The Korea Industrial Complex Corporation plans to standardize manufacturing data, infrastructure, and solutions through unified standards and verify their applicability, thereby enhancing the reliability and scalability of the entire manufacturing AI ecosystem. To ensure professionalism and credibility, the center will openly recruit external experts in standards and certification as its director, and will gradually supplement professional talent with experience in standard design and certification system operation.
The Corporation will also collaborate with the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards, leveraging the infrastructure and expertise of domestic testing and certification bodies such as the Korea Testing Laboratory (KTL), the Korea Conformity Laboratories (KCL), and the Korea Testing & Research Institute for Chemical Industry (KTR), to build a trustworthy standards and certification system. This standards and certification system will be first applied to major projects such as AX demonstration industrial complexes and carbon-neutral industrial complexes, and will then be gradually expanded to all industrial complexes nationwide based on operational outcomes.
