en.Wedoany.com Reported - Montra Electric, an Indian electric mobility company, has dispatched the first 65 Rhino 5538 EV heavy-duty electric trucks from its production base in Manesar, Haryana, marking the launch of one of India's largest deployment projects for electric medium and heavy commercial vehicles (eM&HCV).

Montra Electric begins deployment of 260 electric heavy trucks

These vehicles are part of a 260-unit order and will be deployed in phases over the coming months for industrial applications and freight corridors. The company stated that this deployment is expected to create one of India's longest electric freight corridors, accelerating the logistics sector's transition to zero emissions.

This rollout indicates that electric trucks are moving beyond the pilot phase, as fleet operators begin integrating pure electric vehicles into mainstream freight operations.

The Rhino 5538 EV is specifically developed for freight needs in industries such as cement, steel, infrastructure, construction materials, and mining. The vehicle integrates an electric powertrain, connected telematics, and intelligent engineering to deliver the reliability, performance, and operational efficiency required for long-haul freight. Montra Electric believes that the operational economics and total cost of ownership of electric trucks are improving compared to conventional solutions, driving increased adoption.

Jalaj Gupta, Managing Director of the company, stated that India's freight ecosystem is transforming, with customers shifting from pilots to commercial-scale deployments. The company has expanded production capacity at its Manesar plant to meet demand.

Following the initial delivery, the remaining vehicles will be deployed over the coming months. The company expects this deployment to strengthen the electrification of multiple industrial transport corridors. Navneet Sethi, CEO of eMHCV, noted that fleet operators are no longer evaluating technical feasibility but are focusing on scaling operations. Customers require performance, uptime, and controlled costs.

Montra Electric stated that it will continue to strengthen manufacturing, service, and customer support as demand grows. As a member of the Murugappa Group, its business covers heavy commercial vehicles, light commercial vehicles, electric three-wheelers, and electric tractors. As industrial enterprises pursue sustainability goals alongside operational efficiency, the large-scale deployment of electric heavy trucks is becoming a key component of India's evolving logistics and transportation landscape.
