en.Wedoany.com Reported - South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) and the National Information Society Agency (NIA) plan to invest 10.98 billion won to build a unified infrastructure connecting different industry services through AI agents. This year, three projects will be promoted to link heterogeneous industry services such as travel, shopping, and delivery via AI agents, creating new added value and laying the foundation for an "agent economy."

The global market has already seen a trend of industrial convergence driven by AI agents. Uber in the U.S. has achieved integration with "Claude" and "ChatGPT" through MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers, allowing users to hail a taxi simply through conversation. In contrast, South Korea lacks technical channels for inter-industry connectivity, with companies still operating their services independently.

The core of this project is to secure an organic connection network between heterogeneous industries. The project is advancing on three pillars: developing a marketplace platform to open connection channels, developing application tools to create practical integration cases, and enhancing service trust through security verification.

As the core of the infrastructure, the marketplace platform development support plan spans two years with a total allocation of 5.6 billion won (3.6 billion won this year and 2 billion won next year). Once specific industry agents register on this platform, they can immediately link with various domestic AI models and other industry services. The platform will operate at least until 2030, and Yanolja has already submitted an application to participate.

For application tools directly demonstrating inter-industry connectivity, 3.58 billion won will be invested this year. The goal is to develop one complete agent (capable of handling travel, shopping, delivery, and other daily life areas from booking to payment) and eight MCPs. The target scenario is that after a user books a trip, settlement and delivery agents are triggered sequentially. Platform company Kakao has applied to participate.

To ensure the reliability of the connection network, 1.8 billion won has been allocated for building a security and reliability verification system. The process of agents crossing industry services, autonomously formulating plans, and invoking tools will be quantitatively measured. Research will develop unique indicators reflecting the characteristics of the Korean language context, domestic settlement, and public data environments, and will be linked with the artificial intelligence reliability verification certification system.

Project funding adopts a co-investment model combining government contributions and private matching funds. Depending on company size, large enterprises can receive up to 50% of the total project cost from the government, mid-sized enterprises up to 70%, and small and medium-sized enterprises up to 75%. MSIT formulates the strategy, NIA handles practical matters, and the "Agentic AI Alliance," comprising approximately 280 member companies, participates as an advisory body.

Kim Eun-ju, Head of the NIA Smart Technology Infrastructure Division, stated: "Global industries are converging through AI agents. This is the golden time to lay the foundation for connecting the domestic ecosystem. Through this infrastructure construction, we will create soil for the self-sustaining growth of domestic AI companies and industrial integration."
