en.Wedoany.com Reported - Brazilian exports of fresh and processed eggs recovered in June 2025, with total shipments reaching 2,590 tons, a 19% increase compared to May. This figure was analyzed by the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (Cepea) based on data from the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex, Secretaria de Comércio Exterior). Despite the significant month-on-month growth, export volumes were still 60% lower than in June 2024. Cepea researchers noted that the recovery was primarily driven by a substantial increase in purchases from Chile.

Chile purchased 1,870 tons of fresh and processed eggs in June, accounting for 72% of Brazil's total egg exports that month, a 41% increase from May. For five consecutive months, Chile has been the largest buyer of Brazilian egg protein. Cepea researchers believe this wave of demand is mainly driven by health factors—in April 2025, Chile detected its first case of avian influenza in a commercial poultry farm, forcing it to increase imports from Brazil to compensate for domestic production shortfalls.

In terms of chicken exports, nearly 25% of Brazil's chicken sales in 2025 went to the Middle East market, but geopolitical conflicts in the region disrupted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, affecting shipments to multiple destinations. In the first half of 2025, Brazil's chicken exports to the United Arab Emirates fell by 8.3% compared to the same period in 2024. Nevertheless, overall chicken exports in the first half of the year reached a historic high. According to Secex statistics, from January to June 2026, Brazil's total exports of fresh and processed chicken reached 2.9 million tons, the highest for the period since Secex began recording this data in 1997, representing a 12.9% increase from 2.6 million tons in the same period of 2025.

Cepea researchers stated that this record performance was due to the diversified trade partner strategy of Brazil's poultry industry. Specifically, exports to Japan grew by 21.2% during the same period, while exports to South Africa surged by 38.3%, effectively offsetting the adverse impact of the shrinking Middle East market.
