en.Wedoany.com Reported - PRIO's Wahoo project in Brazilian waters has achieved first oil using TechnipFMC's Subsea 2.0® production system, marking the first application of this technology in Brazil's pre-salt fields. On July 13, TechnipFMC announced via LinkedIn that the installation developed a greenfield project through a tieback approach, demonstrating how innovation unlocks new opportunities. The company stated that it supported PRIO with a standardized solution designed to simplify projects through a modular approach, reducing complexity, improving consistency, and accelerating time to first oil.

PRIO, formerly known as PetroRio, is an independent oil and gas company focused on offshore production and redevelopment of oil assets in Brazil, also operating fields such as Polvo, Tubarão Martelo, and Albacora Leste in Brazilian waters. Located approximately 19 miles (30 km) north of the producing Frade field in the Campos Basin, the Wahoo field is a strategic addition to PRIO's portfolio. The project utilizes existing infrastructure and the Frade floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) unit for processing.

According to public information, the first production well at the Wahoo field came on stream on March 18, 2026, with the second well starting production on March 25, 2026. The field is PRIO's first fully independently developed field, connected to the Frade FPSO via a subsea tieback system approximately 30 km long. The successful application of TechnipFMC's Subsea 2.0® production system provides a new technical reference for Brazil's pre-salt development and further validates the feasibility of standardized solutions in accelerating project timelines. As Subsea 2.0® technology is deployed in more projects, the advantages of the modular approach are expected to continue to be realized, helping the industry achieve more efficient offshore oil and gas development.
