en.Wedoany.com Reported - July 12, 2026 – Unity has secured its first contract in the Asia-Pacific market in partnership with Malaysia's Reservoir Link Sdn. Bhd., providing a three-well rigless intervention project for a major international offshore operator.
This contract marks Unity's first major project in the Asia-Pacific region, supporting the company's strategy to expand its well integrity and decommissioning services beyond its established North Sea operations.
The project will deploy Unity's proprietary Surface Intervention System (SIS), a lightweight rigless solution for wellhead integrity restoration, production recovery, and early plug and abandonment (P&A) activities without the need for conventional intervention vessels. According to Unity, the system has been used in over 20 projects since 2016, offering an alternative to wireline and hydraulic workover operations while reducing logistical complexity and operational costs.
The company stated that the technology is particularly suited for mature offshore assets with small platforms, limited crane capacity, aging wellheads, and personnel constraints—conditions common in many Southeast Asian offshore developments.
Stuart Slater, Unity's Regional Manager for Asia-Pacific, said the partnership with Reservoir Link opens a new phase in Southeast Asian well intervention, bringing complementary strengths to the region, including local presence, local equipment, and a shared commitment to helping operators keep decommissioning work on schedule.
Founded in 2008, Reservoir Link is a Malaysian well intervention and energy services provider that will deliver local operational support, regulatory expertise, and technical resources for the project. The company operates facilities at the Asian Supply Base and the Kemaman Supply Base, serving offshore developments in Malaysia and the broader Southeast Asian region.
Dato' Wan Hassan Bin Mohd Jamil, Group CEO and Managing Director of Reservoir Link, stated that Malaysia presents significant opportunities for rigless well intervention and abandonment activities, with mature assets continuing to drive demand for specialized services. Together, both parties are well-positioned to support operators in extending asset life, improving operational efficiency, and advancing responsible decommissioning plans in the region.
Unity noted that this partnership is a key part of its Asia-Pacific growth strategy, leveraging over 30 years of experience in providing well integrity and decommissioning solutions for mature offshore assets in the North Sea.
