en.Wedoany.com Reported - Vodacom has signed an agreement with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) aimed at strengthening cooperation in digital inclusion and telecommunications development in Africa. The agreement was signed by Ayman Essam, Chief External Affairs Officer of Vodacom Group, and Cosmas Luckyson Zavazava, Director of the Telecommunication Development Bureau at the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), during the "Artificial Intelligence for Good Summit."

Under the agreement, Vodacom commits to sharing its expertise and best practices accumulated during its operations across African markets to drive industry development. The cooperation will focus on regulatory frameworks related to satellite communications and spectrum management, digital inclusion strategies, and expanding connectivity in the education sector.

This collaboration aims to foster closer cooperation between the telecommunications industry and international development organizations, with both parties working together to accelerate connectivity and digital transformation across the African continent. Vodacom stated that this partnership will make the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and Vodacom true collaborators, not only in policy discussions but also in practical implementation.

Ayman Essam, Chief External Affairs Officer of Vodacom Group, stated that the company will bring frontline operational insights derived from scenarios where connectivity, educational access, and financial inclusion are already transforming lives. He noted that public-private partnerships are the only viable path to achieving scale, and when operators, regulators, and development agencies align around shared outcomes, challenges that once seemed insurmountable become achievable. He emphasized that this is the Africa Vodacom is committed to building.

Vodacom looks forward to deepening its partnership with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), with both parties working together to expand connectivity, promote digital inclusion, and support sustainable development in Africa.
