This funding will be used for the construction of a £65 million total investment project. The service area is located between junctions 7 and 8 near Millington and Rostherne and is expected to open in spring 2028. Construction has now commenced, with the development phase projected to create 558 jobs and 325 permanent positions upon operation. The service area is expected to attract 4 million customers annually, with an annual turnover of £36 million.
The project plans to collaborate with approximately 130 local suppliers and contribute at least £100,000 annually to community projects. This is a partnership between Westmorland and Tatton Estate on an 80/20 basis, aiming for long-term investment in local food, the economy, and the population.
