Wedoany.com Report-May 15, Engie has started construction on a 400 MWh battery park in Kallo, Belgium, featuring 110 battery modules, in partnership with NHOA Energy under a supply and service agreement. Set to launch in spring 2027, the facility will store and distribute electricity to meet grid demands, supporting Belgium’s sustainable energy goals.

Capable of delivering 100 MW for four hours, the park can power over 48,000 households, enhancing grid stability by storing renewable energy from wind and solar sources. Engie prioritizes flexibility, renewables, and customer solutions in Belgium, aiming to optimize clean energy use and ensure a reliable supply.

Vincent Verbeke, chief executive of Engie Belgium, said: “It is with great pride that we are launching today, in the presence of Energy Minister Mathieu Bihet, the construction of this battery park in Kallo, Engie’s second major park in Belgium. With this large-scale project, we are strengthening Belgium’s strategic position at the heart of the European energy market. Through our focus on flexible energy production and consumption, we want to get the most out of renewable sources and make energy more sustainable, reliable and affordable for our customers.”
