en.Wedoany.com Reported - Brazil's GOL Linhas Aéreas has modernized its airport operations equipment management by adopting the Microsoft cloud platform, reducing the fleet equipment update cycle from three months to three days, cutting service desk calls by 20%, improving IT team efficiency by 30%, and shortening equipment deployment time by 50%. Incidents that previously took over 24 hours to resolve now require only 10 minutes. The operation covers 84 bases, over 11,000 devices, and approximately 16,000 employees.

GOL had been seeking to move away from reliance on local infrastructure and VPN connections to adapt to its operational pace. Before the transformation, failures at remote bases could take days to fix, and software updates could take up to six weeks to cover the entire fleet. The company's Technology Director, Mario Fabio Faria, stated that the transformation had to meet non-negotiable requirements, including information security, solution resilience, agility, practicality, and customer efficiency.

By introducing Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Entra ID, and Windows Autopilot on top of its existing Microsoft 365 usage, GOL fully migrated device management to the cloud. Devices are configured synchronously upon leaving the factory, eliminating the need for local pre-installation, enabling remote management, centralized application of security policies, and biometric verification via Windows Hello.

The implementation gradually expanded from the administrative team to boarding gates, stores, and check-in counters without disrupting operations. The setup process for new operational bases was reduced from days to hours. Boarding coordinators began using tablets equipped with near-real-time updated information, reducing paper-based processes and reliance on radio communication.

GOL has also started testing Microsoft Power Automate for a chat-based operational assistant, integrated with flight schedules to accelerate information queries during operations. The new cloud technology foundation consolidates cybersecurity, infrastructure, IT governance, and airport services into a unified management environment, supporting faster and more consistent operations across the entire route network.
