en.Wedoany.com Reported - Terra Metals (ASX:TM1) has intersected its widest mineralized interval to date at the Southwest discovery within the Dante Project in Western Australia, with a continuous 448-meter intersection of platinum group element (PGE)-copper-nickel mineralization.
Initial diamond drill tail assays from hole SWRD051 returned 448 meters at 0.87 g/t PGE3 and 0.15% nickel (Ni) from 102 meters downhole, confirming this as one of the thickest mineralized packages yet penetrated within the Southwest main sulfide corridor.
The intersection includes higher-grade zones: from 282.74 meters, 90.9 meters @ 1.18 g/t PGE3, 0.19% Ni, and 0.14% copper (Cu), including from 358 meters, 6.2 meters @ 2.31 g/t PGE3, 0.23% Ni, and 0.30% Cu.
Additionally, from 427 meters, 101 meters @ 1.46 g/t PGE3 and 0.2% Ni, including from 427 meters, 36.6 meters @ 2 g/t PGE3, 0.24% Ni, and 0.11% Cu.
Barry Jones, General Manager of Operations and Exploration, stated that Southwest is emerging as a significant mineralized system, with drilling continuing to delineate a mineralized footprint measuring approximately 950 meters by 700 meters and extending at least 750 meters down dip.
Jones noted that the scale, continuity, and thickness of the mineralized package, locally developing to around 400 meters, highlight the potential significance of this discovery.
He mentioned that Southwest does not appear to be a simple stratiform occurrence.
Mineralization is developed within a broader mafic-ultramafic sequence, with enrichment across the entire PGE suite as well as associated copper, nickel, and cobalt.
This supports the company's interpretation of Southwest as a large, multi-metal magmatic sulfide system, which has the potential to become one of the most significant systems of its kind in Australia.
The Southwest discovery lies entirely outside the existing 148 million tonne Dante Mineral Resource and represents a new growth opportunity within the Jameson Layered Intrusion.
Additional diamond drill tail assays from SWRD052 returned 370 meters @ 0.90 g/t PGE3 and 0.17% Ni from 170 meters, including 68 meters @ 1.25 g/t PGE3, 0.21% Ni, and 0.12% Cu from 227 meters, and 15 meters @ 2.21 g/t PGE3, 0.22% Ni, and 0.13% Cu from 480 meters.
Meanwhile, the pre-collar section of hole SWRD055 returned 78 meters @ 1.08 g/t PGE3 and 0.17% Ni from 174 meters, with diamond drill tail samples drilled to 618.3 meters currently being analyzed.
Chief Executive Officer Thomas Line stated that these results enhance Terra's confidence in the scale and geological potential of the discovery.
Line said that intersecting 448 meters of continuous mineralization within the original troctolite-pyroxenite package indicates that the Southwest system is both laterally extensive and exceptionally thick.
Rather than defining a single mineralized reef, drilling is defining a broad mineralized corridor containing multiple mineralized horizons, providing significant scope for continued resource growth as drilling progresses.
Terra reported that five drill rigs are currently operating, alongside surface electromagnetic (EM), downhole EM, and downhole televiewer programs to expand the discovery.
Heritage surveys are also underway to expand drill access across the project area, in preparation for Southwest's inaugural target resource estimate later this year.
