AI Agent Interconnection National Standard Pilot Launched in China, 18 Units Sign First Batch

en.Wedoany.com Reported - The "Artificial Intelligence Agent Interconnection" series of standards application promotion thematic conference was held on July 21 at the Zhongguancun Exhibition Center in Haidian District, Beijing, China. Hosted by the Artificial Intelligence Subcommittee of the China Information Technology Standardization Technical Committee, the conference marks the official entry into the pilot application phase of China's first interconnection standard system covering the full lifecycle of AI agents.

This series of standards (GB/Z 185.1—GB/Z 185.7—2026) was approved and released by the State Administration for Market Regulation (National Standardization Administration) in June 2026, representing China's first national-level standard system in the field of artificial intelligence agents. The development work was jointly guided by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the State Administration for Market Regulation, and completed by the China Electronics Standardization Institute, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, together with over 70 industry, academic, and research units. The standards cover overall architecture, identity codes, identity management, agent description, agent discovery, agent interaction, and agent tool invocation, establishing a closed-loop standard system of "identity identification—capability description—supply-demand discovery—collaborative interaction—tool invocation," aimed at solving prominent issues such as non-unified communication interfaces, lack of identity management, and chaotic collaborative interaction rules.

Zhu Meina, Deputy Director of the Standard Technology Management Department of the State Administration for Market Regulation, previously pointed out at a press conference that with the large-scale deployment of agents and their widespread adoption across multiple scenarios, the cross-platform, cross-scenario, and cross-domain interconnection and collaboration of massive agents has become an inevitable trend in industrial development. However, current challenges remain, including non-unified communication interfaces, significant difficulties in interconnection, lack of identity management, and non-standardized collaborative interaction rules, leading to a prominent "information island" phenomenon among agents. This series of standards, released as national standardization guiding technical documents, represents an agile standardization arrangement during the industrial cultivation phase, intended to accommodate multiple technical routes and rapidly consolidate industry consensus.

At the conference, the AIP (Agent Interconnection Protocol) open-source code version V2.1 was released. AIP is a multi-centric communication protocol designed for the interconnection of massive AI agents, primarily addressing issues such as trusted access, identity authentication, capability discovery, interconnection collaboration, settlement transactions, and behavior auditing. This open-source project, based on the national standard GB/Z 185-2026 "Artificial Intelligence—Agent Interconnection," launched version v2.1.0 in early July 2026, with the latest source code and supporting tools now available on the AtomGit AI Open Source Community.

The conference held the first batch of agent identity code issuance ceremonies. According to the standard, agent identity codes are uniformly assigned by identity registration service providers, adopting a hierarchical identification system. One identity code corresponds to only one agent, ensuring identity uniqueness and traceability from the source. During the application cooperation signing session, representatives from enterprises and institutions including Meituan, Zhipu Huazhang, Qunar Travel, Didi Chuxing, Digital China, Northking Information Technology, Mianbi Intelligence, Yonyou, Glodon, Yinxin Changyuan, Beyondsoft Technology, Seeyon, Thunder Software Technology, Lenovo, Nantian Software, Tianshenghua, Qingzhou Zhihang, and the Institute of Software of the Chinese Academy of Sciences signed on site. These signing units will leverage their industry resources and technical advantages to take the lead in piloting the national standard, accelerating the adaptation of the entire industry to a unified agent interconnection foundation.

Concurrently, the "AIP Agent Interconnection Application Promotion Hundred Cities (Districts) Tour" was launched. Over 50 enterprises are already conducting pilot applications. As a leading innovation hub for artificial intelligence in China, Haidian District in Beijing has taken the lead in promoting the pilot implementation, scenario validation, and large-scale application of the national standard. Companies such as Volcano Engine, Xiaomi, Kuaishou, and Lenovo have deeply participated in standard development and pilot applications. Tang Chao, Deputy District Mayor of Haidian, stated that Haidian will coordinate with the "1+X+1" modern industrial system to orderly open up diverse scenarios including government affairs, urban governance, industrial research, and public services, providing an implementation environment for cross-entity, cross-scenario, and cross-system interconnection of agents.
