en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Oga–Katagami–Akita offshore wind project in the waters off Akita Prefecture, Japan, has received compliance certification from Bureau Veritas Japan, confirming that its wind power facility design meets Japanese technical standards and regulatory requirements.

The 315 MW wind farm is owned and developed by Oga Katagami Akita Offshore Green Energy, operated by a consortium comprising JERA Nex BP, Electric Power Development Co., Ltd. (J-POWER), Tohoku Electric Power, and Itochu. The project is one of the first fixed-bottom offshore wind developments in Japan's general sea areas to advance through public tenders, and is also among the country's first to utilize turbines with a unit capacity exceeding 10 MW. According to early information, 21 turbines with a unit output of 15 MW will be supplied by Vestas.

According to COWI, the wind farm is designed to withstand extreme and rare earthquakes, making it the world's first 15 MW-class offshore wind facility to incorporate such seismic design considerations. COWI, in collaboration with Kajima Corporation and Kobori Research Complex, is responsible for the preliminary and detailed design of the project's monopile foundations and transition pieces.

COWI stated that this certification milestone is the result of close collaboration between the project developer and key partners, including Kajima Corporation, Vestas Japan, MHI Vestas Japan, and Ove Arup & Partners Japan. The compliance assessment covered comprehensive site condition evaluations, integrated load analysis, and detailed design verification of all project elements. According to earlier project information, turbine delivery is expected to begin in 2026, with commissioning scheduled for 2027.

The 315 MW offshore wind farm is planned to commence full commercial operation in June 2028.
