en.Wedoany.com Reported - Greek dry bulk shipowner Diana Shipping reported net income attributable to common shareholders of $19.3 million for the second quarter of 2026, compared with $3.1 million in the same period last year. The company's time charter revenue increased from $54.7 million to $57.3 million, driven by higher average time charter rates.

In the first half of 2026, the company's net income attributable to common shareholders reached $47.0 million, compared with $4.7 million in the same period last year; half-year time charter revenue increased from $109.6 million to $112.0 million.

In terms of fleet operations, fleet utilization stood at 99.6% in the second quarter, with the time charter equivalent rate rising to $16,581 per day from $15,492 in the same period of 2025. Daily vessel operating expenses increased from $5,944 to $6,396 during the same period.

Commenting on recent market performance, Chief Executive Officer Semiramis Paliou stated that the company's operating results have been overshadowed by attention surrounding the proposed acquisition of Genco Shipping and Trading. Paliou noted that market focus has been excessively concentrated on the proposed acquisition, diverting attention from Diana's own intrinsic value and underlying operational performance. The company pointed out that despite improved profitability, its share price still trades at a significant discount to net asset value. Paliou added that should a deal with Genco be reached, the combined entity would form a larger and more diversified enterprise.
