en.Wedoany.com Reported - Purepoint Uranium (TSX-V:PTU) announced that its latest drilling at the Nova Discovery within the Dorado Project in the Athabasca Basin, Saskatchewan, Canada, returned a continuous radioactivity average of 11,730 counts per second (cps).
Drill hole NV26-11 intersected a 5.6-meter mineralized zone from 337.9 meters to 343.5 meters downhole, with peak readings reaching 53,300 cps. The mineralization occurs at the contact zone between granitic gneiss and pelitic gneiss with strong hematite alteration.
This radioactivity response is consistent with the high-grade uranium mineralization previously encountered at Nova. Assay results from earlier drill samples returned 1.62% U3O8 over 2.1 meters, including 8.1% U3O8 over 0.4 meters. Laboratory results for the latest drill hole have not yet been released.
Chief Executive Officer Chris Frostad stated that the drill results support the geological model of the target area. He said: "The continuity of the radioactive interval and the strength of the downhole probe response reinforce our understanding of the mineralized system and will help guide exploration priorities when drilling resumes in two weeks."
The first phase of drilling comprised four holes, testing the Q23 and Nova target areas respectively. NV26-11 is the widest continuous radioactive interval encountered in the program. Purepoint and IsoEnergy (TSX:ISO) operate the Dorado Project under a 50/50 joint venture.
Uranium mineralization at Nova is distributed along a structural corridor extending approximately one kilometer, associated with intense alteration and graphitic basement rocks. The company plans a scheduled break mid-program to integrate results with the broader geological dataset before prioritizing next drilling steps, with drilling expected to resume in two weeks.
