CNTE Delivers 41.7MWh Energy Storage System for Czech Republic's Largest Battery Storage Project

(CNTE, an energy storage company invested by CATL) has delivered its containerized energy storage system STAR T to the Modlany Energy Park in northern Czech Republic. The project combines a 42.7MW photovoltaic power plant with a battery energy storage system of 37.95MW power and 41.7MWh capacity, making it the largest battery storage project in the Czech Republic to date. The project is equipped with 11 CNTE STAR T-285 liquid-cooled energy storage containers, each with a rated power of 3.45MW/3.793MWh.

Located at a former mining tailings site, the energy storage system is connected to a large high-voltage substation and primarily provides fast-response frequency regulation and grid balancing services. The system can rapidly charge or discharge in response to grid demands, smoothing fluctuations in photovoltaic output and electricity load. By storing excess solar energy and releasing it when needed, the project enhances renewable energy utilization and strengthens the flexibility and reliability of the regional grid.

STAR T is CNTE's liquid-cooled containerized energy storage product designed for large-scale applications, featuring a 1P charge-discharge mode that delivers rapid power response for frequency regulation and ancillary services. Its modular architecture supports configurations of 1 to 4 hours of duration, allowing the system to be tailored to project capacity and operational requirements. The product integrates an intelligent liquid cooling system, four-level fire protection, precise fire alarm localization, and continuous DC insulation monitoring, complemented by an energy management system and cloud platform that enable real-time monitoring, intelligent control, and full lifecycle asset management.

Against the backdrop of accelerating renewable energy deployment in Europe, battery storage is playing an increasingly prominent role in balancing electricity supply and demand, reducing renewable energy curtailment, and maintaining grid stability. This project also demonstrates CNTE's further expansion of its business footprint in the European large-scale energy storage market. CNTE stated that it will continue to collaborate with customers and local partners across Europe to deliver safe, efficient, and scalable energy storage solutions for frequency regulation, renewable energy integration, and other large-scale applications.
