Korea's Rebellions Wins First Order for Domestic NPU-Powered Public CCTV Conversion Project

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Rebellions, a South Korean AI semiconductor company, will supply high-performance server-type Neural Processing Units (NPUs) to the CCTV control centers of Gyeongsangnam-do Provincial Office and Ulsan Metropolitan City.

On the 3rd, Rebellions received the order for server infrastructure construction under the "Public AI CCTV Conversion Based on Domestic NPUs" project promoted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Information Society Agency (NIA). This project marks the first case of converting public CCTV systems to an AI-based framework.

Supply begins this month, with the products being delivered to the control centers of the aforementioned local governments. The units are Rebellions' high-performance server-type NPU, AtomMax. The local government control systems adopt a structure featuring edge-side primary object detection and server-side secondary precision analysis. AtomMax runs a large vision-language model (VLM) with 30B (30 billion) parameters on the server at the control center, analyzing CCTV footage to determine fire or crime situations and generating situational descriptions in Korean.

The server-type NPUs supplied this time support standalone operation on closed networks and officially support the standard AI inference tool vLLM. Public institutions can integrate the NPU into their infrastructure without modifying existing development environments.

Previously, Rebellions had run SK Telecom's ultra-large AI model A.X K1 on a single server through its AI server, RebelServer. The company plans to leverage this technical capability to expand the application of NPUs to public safety sites.

Park Sung-hyun, CEO of Rebellions, stated that the company will create a turning point in building public safety site infrastructure with the technological capabilities of domestic NPUs.
