Wedoany.com Report-Jun 3, Hyundai Motor, South Korea’s leading automaker, reported a 1.7% decline in vehicle sales for May 2025 compared to the previous year, citing reduced consumer spending due to economic challenges. The company sold 351,174 vehicles last month, down from 357,099 units in May 2024.

In South Korea, sales fell 5.2% to 58,966 units from 62,200 units, while overseas sales decreased by 0.9% to 292,208 units from 294,899. Hyundai stated in a press release: “The company will focus on maintaining steady sales of gasoline hybrid and next-generation models to preserve sales momentum amid unfavorable business conditions, including rising geopolitical risks.”
From January to May 2025, Hyundai’s total sales slightly declined by 0.2% to 1,706,088 vehicles from 1,710,278 in the same period of 2024. Domestic sales increased by 2.4% to 292,836 units from 285,900, while overseas sales dropped 0.8% to 1,413,252 units from 1,424,378.
Hyundai plans to emphasize hybrid and advanced vehicle models to sustain sales growth despite challenging market conditions, aiming to strengthen its position in both domestic and international markets.
