Gazprom Neft Deploys Re-Fracturing Technology in Russia, Boosting Well Productivity by 2.5 Times

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Gazprom Neft's subsidiary Gazpromneft-Khantos has deployed a Russian-made multi-stage re-fracturing system at its assets in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug (KhMAO-Yugra) to enhance well productivity.

Most of the oil fields currently developed by the company are in the 3rd to 4th development stages. General Director Dmitry Kolupaev stated that re-fracturing (ГРП) technology will accelerate oil recovery, enabling well clusters to reach the design production mode of the oil field more quickly.

Hydraulic fracturing technology is suitable for mature oil fields and blocks with complex geological structures. Its principle involves injecting a special fluid into the rock under high pressure to create fractures that increase oil inflow. Over time, the fracturing effect gradually diminishes, leading to a decline in well production.

Re-fracturing technology can restore oil inflow without additional drilling or construction of new infrastructure, increasing well productivity by 2.5 times. During operations, fluid delivery equipment is run into existing wells, allowing fracturing in the necessary reservoir zones, controlling fracture growth, and bringing previously untapped reserves into production.

Previously, Gazprom Neft successfully tested re-fracturing technology at oil fields in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (YNAO).
