TotalEnergies Wins Namibia's 345 Million-Litre Fuel Supply Contract

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 21, Namibia's Minister of Mines and Energy, Modestus Amutse, announced that TotalEnergies' bidding team won the country's new round of centralized refined fuel supply contract, and will supply approximately 345 million litres of diesel and gasoline between November 2026 and January 2027, with diesel accounting for the majority. The contract runs for three months, and TOTSA, TotalEnergies' trading company, will handle the actual supply.

The procurement volume is approximately 345.3 million litres, including about 246.9 million litres of diesel and about 98.4 million litres of gasoline. The winning bid was priced at a discount to Namibia's basic fuel price benchmark, with a discount of 61 Namibian cents per litre for diesel and 71 Namibian cents per litre for gasoline, representing a weighted average discount of approximately 63.85 cents per litre. The Namibian government estimates that, based on the planned procurement volume, the new contract will save approximately 220.5 million Namibian dollars compared with the existing supply arrangement.

Namibia selected the supplier through a competitive procurement process, with evaluation factors including price quotations, bidder qualifications, supply security risks, and suppliers' performance records. A total of four bidders submitted quotations, all offering supply terms below the basic fuel price benchmark, and TotalEnergies ultimately won the contract. Namibia's Ministry of Mines and Energy stated that it will continue to use open competitive methods to procure bulk refined fuel in the future.

In the previous procurement round, global commodities trader Vitol obtained Namibia's exclusive fuel supply arrangement and was responsible for supply from May to September 2026, with the relevant agreement subsequently extended to the end of October. The Namibian government confirmed in early September that it would not renew the exclusive supply contract, and the new supply round therefore switched to TotalEnergies' bidding team starting in November.
