en.Wedoany.com Reported - UK-based energy technology company TechnipFMC has confirmed that the GranMorgu deepwater oil project, operated by TotalEnergies in Block 58 off the coast of Suriname, is progressing as planned with strong current execution momentum.

TechnipFMC was awarded the integrated engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (iEPCI) contract for the GranMorgu development project in 2024, with a contract value exceeding $1 billion. The company stated that the work is making steady progress, with the delivery of "critical" subsea equipment supporting the next phase of project execution. The first batch of drilling equipment has been shipped, and key floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) connection components have also been installed, which the company attributes to early collaboration, standardized engineering, and disciplined execution.
TechnipFMC stated that, together with TotalEnergies, it is driving one of Suriname's most significant offshore development projects toward first production, and expressed gratitude for the expertise and commitment of global teams.

Shortly before this subsea equipment delivery, STS JV—a joint venture between SBM Offshore and Technip Energies—along with TotalEnergies subsidiary TotalEnergies EP Suriname and Beyond the Sea, signed agreements to evaluate wind-assisted kite-towing services for the GranMorgu FPSO project.
The GranMorgu development project was approved following progress in front-end engineering and design (FEED) studies for two oil discoveries, Sapakara South and Krabdagu, in Block 58. The field is located 150 kilometers off the coast of Suriname, with estimated recoverable reserves exceeding 750 million barrels.
The initial investment for the project is estimated at approximately $10.5 billion, with total investment potentially reaching $12.2 billion. The FPSO GranMorgu has a daily production capacity of 220,000 barrels of oil and is designed with provisions for future tie-back opportunities to extend the production plateau, with first oil expected in 2028.
TotalEnergies has selected SBM Offshore and Technip Energies for the GranMorgu FPSO scope, and previously chose Scotland-based ADC Energy for the drilling rig selection process to develop recoverable reserves at water depths between 100 and 1,000 meters; Saipem was also awarded a contract valued at $1.9 billion. These contracts enable the relevant contractors to participate in Suriname's first offshore oil development project.
