The Cologne-based German flag carrier is a founding member of the Star Alliance.

Starlink WiFi will be offered to passengers free of charge, requiring registration with the Miles & More frequent flyer program or a unified Travel ID account, both of which can be created at no cost. Dieter Vranckx, Chief Commercial Officer of the Lufthansa Group, stated that the product promise goes beyond seats or menus, and that connectivity has become an indispensable part of an exceptional onboard experience.

The rollout covers all member airlines of the Lufthansa Group, including SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, ITA Airways, as well as Air Dolomiti, Discover Airlines, Edelweiss Air, Eurowings, and Lufthansa City Airlines. Additionally, Lufthansa holds a 50% stake in the leisure airline SunExpress.

Unlike traditional geostationary communication satellites, Starlink satellites operate in low Earth orbit, enabling higher data rates. Lufthansa stated that in many cases, the onboard internet bandwidth will exceed the connection passengers have at home or in the office, making video streaming during flight, cloud-based work, and other high-bandwidth applications possible.

Use of the service is subject to terms and conditions based on passenger surveys, including wearing headphones when viewing audio or video content, and refraining from making phone calls or live streaming during the flight.
