en.Wedoany.com Reported - Following the approval of the demolition and executive design by Paolo Piacenza, President of the Southern Tyrrhenian and Ionian Sea Port Authority, the redevelopment of the former CIVAM area at the Port of Vibo Valentia Marina has entered an accelerated phase.

The project, with a total investment of €1.5 million, plans to convert the currently abandoned industrial warehouses into a new commercial logistics yard near the Bengasi dock. The tendering procedure is expected to be completed by August, with construction scheduled to begin in the first half of October 2026. The project has been included in the 2026-2028 Three-Year Operational Plan adopted by the Management Committee in June, and is part of the port development strategy for Vibo Valentia Marina, aimed at improving port infrastructure efficiency, enhancing navigational safety, and strengthening the connection between the port and the surrounding urban area.

The fact that only two months elapsed between inclusion in the three-year plan and approval of the executive design reflects the Port Authority's pace of translating planning into actual construction. After the demolition of the former CIVAM building, the cleared site will be redeveloped into a functional logistics yard to meet the port's operational and commercial needs; given its proximity to the Bengasi dock, the area holds strategic significance in terms of location.

President Piacenza stated that this project is not merely a simple redevelopment of a dilapidated area, but a concrete investment in the port's development that will enhance operational capacity, create conditions for the growth of port activities, and simultaneously boost the tourism potential and overall urban environment of Vibo Valentia Marina.
