en.Wedoany.com Reported - ABB has launched the SD200 SP4 heavy-duty industrial motor, with initial offerings available in two-pole and four-pole configurations ranging from 125 to 250 horsepower, now available through the company's authorized distribution network. Six-pole products in the same power range are scheduled for release in 2026.

The SD200 SP4 features NEMA Design B construction and achieves NEMA Premium 4 efficiency levels. According to ABB, internal motor losses are reduced by an average of 20% compared to current NEMA Premium motors. Its frame dimensions remain compatible with corresponding SD200 motor specifications, so existing equipment typically requires no redesign of mounting structures when replacing motors.

This series features a heavy-duty cast iron frame, C-4140 high-strength steel shaft, Class H insulation system, and IP55 enclosure protection, primarily targeting demanding industrial environments such as mining, chemical processing, oil refining, pulp and paper, as well as water and wastewater treatment. The products also come with enlarged junction boxes to improve installation wiring and maintenance accessibility.

The U.S. Department of Energy's revised energy efficiency standards for industrial motors will apply to products manufactured in or imported into the United States starting June 1, 2027. Under these standards, certain NEMA Design A and Design B motors from 100 to 250 horsepower must meet the minimum full-load efficiency corresponding to Super Premium/IE4. The 125 to 250 horsepower range covered by the SD200 SP4 overlaps with this regulatory scope.
