Northern Ireland company applies to expand sewage treatment facility to support 67-home development

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Residential developer Chieftan Homes has submitted a planning application to Fermanagh and Omagh District Council in Northern Ireland, UK, to expand the existing sewage treatment facility in Seskinore village, County Tyrone, to provide supporting wastewater treatment capacity for 67 homes already granted planning permission in the area.

According to the application documents, the proposed works involve adding a specially designed packaged treatment unit to the existing sewage treatment facility. The new equipment is planned to be installed in underground space adjacent to the existing treatment facility, with a small-scale extension to the original enclosed site. The project will continue to use the existing access via Carnalea Meadows, with no need for a separate treatment site.

The developer has classified the facility as supporting infrastructure for the residential project and stated that the underground design and limited site footprint will reduce the impact of the works on the surrounding landscape and environment. Before the treatment facility becomes operational, in addition to obtaining planning permission, its operation and post-treatment discharge will also be subject to a separate discharge consent process.
