en.Wedoany.com Reported - Maritana Minerals has launched an initial 4,000-meter air-core drilling program at the Wilsons gold prospect in the Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia, targeting a soil gold anomaly covering more than 2.5 kilometers by 1.5 kilometers. The prospect is located approximately 400 meters north of the Black Swan processing hub.

This drilling campaign marks the first large-scale, dedicated gold-focused drilling program at the Wilsons prospect. The holes will penetrate the transported overburden to test the bedrock geology, regolith architecture, and deep geochemical characteristics beneath the anomaly, and will be used to identify the structural and lithological controls on gold mineralization.

The Wilsons soil gold anomaly was defined in 2024 through systematic UltraFine+ soil sampling and remains open along strike. Native gold nuggets have been found within the anomaly, with the highest-grade gold-bearing quartz vein rock chip sample returning 1.25 g/t Au; historical drill holes previously targeting nickel also intersected a 0.4-meter interval grading 6.41 g/t Au.

Past exploration in the Black Swan area has focused primarily on nickel sulfide mineralization, with only limited historical drill samples assayed for gold. The gold potential beneath the Wilsons anomaly had not previously been tested by dedicated drilling. The prospect lies within an approved mining lease and is in close proximity to existing infrastructure at the Black Swan processing hub.

Maritana Minerals will complete the current 4,000-meter air-core drilling program and submit samples for assay, using geological logging and assay results to define follow-up drill targets. The company also plans to test the northern extension of the Wilsons anomaly into ground acquired in Q2 2026, and to conduct further exploration on other anomalies defined by the 2024 soil sampling program. Initial drilling results are expected to be released between late September and early October 2026.
