en.Wedoany.com Reported - Angola's national airline (TAAG – Linhas Aéreas de Angola) plans to launch the Luanda–Dakar–Praia route on October 31, resuming flights to Cape Verde after a decade-long suspension of services to the archipelago.

This new route will strengthen African continental integration and connectivity with West Africa, adding Cape Verde and Senegal to TAAG's list of 12 international destinations. In June, TAAG also launched regular flights to Guangzhou in southern China.

TAAG's Chairman of the Board of Directors, Clóvis Rosa, stated that the new route fulfills a long-awaited connection between Angola and Cape Verde, representing another step in strengthening air connectivity across the African continent. He added that Dakar adds a strategic dimension to this operation, as the company reinforces TAAG's presence in Africa and builds connections that make the route network more meaningful for passengers as well as for economic and institutional relations between the countries served, expressing hope that Luanda will increasingly play its role as a continental connection hub.

The route aligns with the principles of the Yamoussoukro Decision on the liberalization of market access in African air transport, as well as with the objectives of the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM) project under the African Union's (AU) Agenda 2063. The launch timing coincides with the effective date of the IATA 2026/2027 winter schedule.

Clóvis Rosa had confirmed the route's return in April on the occasion of the launch of the Luanda–Abidjan route. A year earlier, in Luanda, Angola's Minister of Transport, Ricardo de Abreu, and Cape Verde's then Minister of Tourism and Transport, José Luís Sá Nogueira, announced the resumption of the route during the Second African Ministerial Conference on Tourism and Air Transport, organized by UN Tourism (UN Turismo) and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

In 2022, Angola's President João Lourenço had advocated for the creation of a joint venture between the two countries' flag carriers, TAAG and Cape Verde Airlines (TACV), but this possibility ultimately did not materialize. Lourenço stated at the time that pooling the two countries' strengths in civil aviation would benefit all parties involved.
