en.Wedoany.com Reported - According to global crude steel production data released on August 24, Brazil produced 2.804 million tons of crude steel in July, up 0.1% from the same period in 2025, with monthly output essentially flat. From January to July, Brazil's cumulative crude steel production reached 19.082 million tons, down 1.2% year-on-year, still ranking as the world's ninth-largest crude steel producer.

During the same period, crude steel output from the 70 countries included in the statistics totaled 149.2 million tons, down 0.3% year-on-year; these countries accounted for approximately 98% of global crude steel production in 2025. Asia and Oceania produced 109.4 million tons in July, down 1.2%, with China's output falling 3.6% to 76.9 million tons. South America's output, meanwhile, grew 2.8% to 3.6 million tons, with Brazil accounting for nearly 80% of the region's monthly output.
By product mix, Brazil's rolled steel output reached 2.052 million tons in July, up 3.2% year-on-year. Among this, flat steel output rose 7.8% to 1.243 million tons, while long steel output fell 3.1% to 809,000 tons; semi-finished products such as billets for sale totaled 701,000 tons, down 3.6%. Crude steel output from the oxygen converter and EOF routes grew 3.3% to 2.172 million tons, while electric furnace route output fell 9.7% to 632,000 tons.
Flat output did not translate into a corresponding improvement in consumption. Brazil's domestic steel sales in July remained at approximately 1.9 million tons, while apparent consumption fell to 2.2 million tons, down 4.7% year-on-year. From January to July, domestic sales totaled 12.3 million tons, flat compared with the same period last year; apparent consumption stood at 15.2 million tons, down 5.0% year-on-year. During the same period, cumulative rolled steel output fell 3.0%, with long steel output declining by as much as 4.5%.
On the trade front, Brazil exported approximately 1 million tons of steel in July, with export value of US$692 million, down 2.6% and 5.2% year-on-year, respectively; imports totaled 383,000 tons, with import value of US$374 million, down 37.8% and 33.1%, respectively. From January to July, export volume rose 2.4% to 6.4 million tons, but export value fell 3.6% to US$4.2 billion.
