German Deutsche WindGuard O&M Capacity Exceeds 1 Gigawatt

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Deutsche WindGuard, a wind energy service provider headquartered in Varel, has announced that the renewable energy capacity under its technical operations management has surpassed 1 gigawatt. The company's 24/7 control room currently monitors wind, solar, hybrid, and storage assets across Germany and the Netherlands, with total capacity now crossing the 1-gigawatt threshold.

This milestone reflects a shift in the role of operations management. As renewable energy plant owners must contend with growing regulatory, organizational, and safety compliance requirements while maintaining project profitability, technical operations management has evolved from a purely monitoring function into a central coordination hub in plant operations.

Nicolas Kluth, Head of Technical Management at Deutsche WindGuard, stated that the company's goal is to relieve operators of day-to-day burdens as much as possible. Rapid response, clear processes, and well-founded technical decisions ensure high effective availability and optimal performance of the plants, with the control room playing a key role: identifying faults in real time, taking immediate countermeasures, and minimizing downtime.

According to Managing Director Dr. Dennis Kruse, each customer is assigned a dedicated contact person. The company's in-house wind farm management system, WONDER, integrates operational data, documentation, and workflows, enabling service partners, direct marketers, and grid operators to be coordinated through a single record.

The control room also holds security qualifications that are increasingly valued in the Baltic region. In 2022, Deutsche WindGuard became one of the first wind energy technical operations service providers to demonstrate to the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) that its 24/7 facility meets the requirements of Section 8a of the BSI Act for operators of critical infrastructure. Tobias Künne, Head of Government, Compliance, and Risk, stated that the company has since expanded these standards through process optimization, regular audits, and continuous evidence, and will comply with Section 39 of the Act in the future.

Founded in 2000, Deutsche WindGuard covers more than 60 areas along the wind energy value chain, including consulting, site assessment, environmental services, turbine measurement, wind tunnel testing, technical inspection, offshore consulting, and training. Its subsidiary, WindGuard Certification, employs over 220 staff and has branches in Germany, the United States, China, and India.
